Locating the exact area that is causing the lameness in your horse is essential for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. After a thorough physical exam, sometimes it is necessary to block the nerves in certain areas of the affected limb to pinpoint the sore area and guide our diagnostic testing such as radiography or ultrasound.
Whether it is a foot, joint, bone, or soft tissue (i.e. tendon or ligament) causing the pain in your horse it is essential to obtain images of the affected area. This guides our treatment of the injury, aftercare of the injury, and the prognosis for your horse. It also gives us baseline images to compare to and monitor progression of healing.
The welfare of your horse is our first priority.
